Black Mountain Backpacking

Scouts will gather at Covington at 5PM with a goal of being dropped off at Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve at 5PM.  Scouts with then backpack approximately 8 miles to the Black Mountain campsite near Skyline ridge over-looking Silicon Valley.  All scouts must have their backpacks inspected by a scout leader prior to the event in order to participate.  All scouts will require at least one flashlight (head-lamps are encouraged), as the last couple of hours of hiking to the campsite will be in the dark.   All scouts must be able to hike approximately 8 miles and have the permission of the scout in charge in order to participate.  Drivers will pick the scouts up from Black Mountain Saturday at 10AM.

Scouts who would like to work on an advancement requirement (for example “Menu Planning” or “Cooking”) are encouraged to contact Jay Mallampati
