The weather at Royaneh is moderately warm in the afternoons and cool in the evenings. Royaneh has a quality dining hall, campsites that offer cabin and tent camping, shooting ranges, and more. During Summer Camp program, activities include a COPE course (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) set high amongst the Redwoods, swimming in our Olympic size swimming pool, Shooting Sports, including archery, rifle, shotgun and black powder in the Mountain Man area. Note for 2021, COVID protocols are in place.
- Each parent must arrange transportation for their scout to/from camp. We will not rent a bus this year, but will caravan to Camp Royaneh.
- BSA Pre-Event Checklist (COVID health screening) must be completed for each attendee and submitted with medical forms (A,B, and C) upon arrival to camp. Conducted before getting in the car in Los Altos/Mountain View
- Reduced camp capacity (50%)
- All adults (18+) must provide proof of vaccination or neg COVID Test (PCR or rapid OK) taken within 96 hrs of arrival at camp
- Includes all drivers transporting to *and* from camp. Drivers failing to produce documentation will have their scouts turned away and not allowed out of the car or into camp (and similarly not allowed to get in the car at pickup). Drivers will not be permitted to leave the parking lot, in any case.
- no requirement presently for scouts to be vaccinated or tested.
- All camp staff will have been given opportunity to receive vaccination prior to camp
- All adults must be full week or Sun-Wed/Wed-Sat. No other partial week options to keep as stable of a camp population as possible.
- Masks are to be worn according to Sonoma County guidelines applicable at the start of out week at camp. Royaneh will provide one branded mask per overnight camper at medical checkin.
- Meals are planned for “to go” at the present time. If permitted by county regulations closer to camp, will use dining hall service.
- Large Group activities — Campfires, etc.
- Masking required
- Social distancing between troops
- Head to toe sleeping required — max 2 persons per tent, 1 scout per bunk, no floor sleeping in cabins (i.e. 8 scouts max per cabin).
- Not offering Cooking or Lifesaving MBs per BSA recommendations.
- Extra dedicated Sanitation Officer at each camp whose role is to disinfect bathrooms & program areas at least twice per day.
- Increased number of sanitizing stations throughout camp
- Handwashing reminders at the end of each MB session
- No cooking allowed at campsites (extra pre-packaged snacks OK).
- Signups have opened already. Register for Camp Royaneh ASAP to get the best options for Merit Badges.
- New system this year: Troop MB coordinator signs up all the scouts with at Troop code. Once the scouts are input, Family codes are generated that we send along to each parent who will select and pay for MBs for their scouts.
- Expectation is that some MBs will have 1/2 capacity (e.g. shooting sports, due to reduced shooting station capacity).
- Expect that some MBs will sell out, but many won’t.
- Activity Signups (trail rides) will done at camp (not pre-registered)
