SUMMARY:Kayak Build Day 1
DESCRIPTION:This is the first half day for the new scouts to build their kayaks. They cut out the center of the spreaders\, round the paddle blades\, round the ends of all runners and sand the ends of the poles. At the end of the event\, the scouts take home all their lumber \n** SCOUTS who want to build a Kayak must register for Kayak Build Day 1 (no need to register for Kayak Build Day 2\, though both days required to participate and build).  Each scout needs to bring an adult to work with the him on each of the Build Days\, however the adult should not register. \nThis is a great event for new Scouts (and incoming Scouts are strongly encouraged to build in their first year)\, but it is open to any Scout wanting to build a kayak (or another kayak). \nAlso\, we need some adults who are not building Kayaks with their scouts\, but would like to assist Kayak build planning and help on the actual days. If can help\, please register for the Kayak Kut (separate event 4/25/20) \nAlthough materials may have gone up in price this year we will be holding the cost to $280.  This covers all the lumber\, canvas\, glue and hardware.  You’ll only need to provide the Bondo filler\, paint (details will be provided during the build)\, and a few other minor items.  We’ll provide more information as we go along and you’ll be helped through the whole process.  We haven’t had a kayak not float yet! \nPlease sign up via the Troop Website\, clicking on the event [Kayak Build Day 1]\, this will bring up the sign-up page. \nKayak Kut — April 25 (Saturday)\, 2020  10:00pm-2:00pm (or until we’re finished).  This is an Adult Only Event.  It is optional for new parents (please email me if you’d like to sign-up/participate).\nKayak Build Day 1 — May 2 (Saturday)\, 2020  8:30am -12:30pm  —   Both Scout and Adult are required for the entire time.\nKayak Build Day 2 — May 16 (Saturday)\, 2020  8:30am-5:30pm  — Both Scout and Adult are required for the entire time.\nKayak Float and Picnic —  June 6th (Saturday)\, 2020  12 noon-?:00pm (provisional) — Final touches\, and paddle away …. \nThis is a really great event to get adults and their Scouts together\, and a memory (normally a good one) that everyone keeps for many years to come.  You don’t need to be planning on coming to Kayak Camp to build a kayak. \nPlease sign up and pay as soon as you can.  The hardest thing about organizing this is getting the numbers correct so that we buy the right amount of material.

SUMMARY:White Water Rafting
DESCRIPTION:An opportunity to White Water River Raft & earn merit badges to boot!  $335 per participant with all meals and equipment provided by the rafting tour guides.  Parents\, guardians and siblings are welcome to join the adventure.\n\n– meet at LAYC in Class A uniform around 4:30 p.m. on Friday\, May 15th \n– drive up to Coloma together\n– having had dinner en route\, arrive at campsite (5461 Bassi Rd\, Lotus CA 95651) by evening/night\n– camp overnight (tents provided by the rafting tour guides) \n\n\nSaturday: Hot drinks served at 7 am\, breakfast after 8 am. We gear up and get on the river after 10:30 am. We raft all day on the Gorge\, taking a break for lunch. We return to camp after 4:30 pm. Dinner is served after 6:30 pm.\nSunday: Hot drinks served at 7 am\, breakfast after 8 am. We leave in a van around 9 am and drive up to Chili Bar. We all raft down 6 miles to Marshall Park. There we put some of the participants into duckies. Everyone travels the 3 miles back to our camp via the river. We eat lunch and say goodbye around 3 pm.
