SUMMARY:Black Mountain Backpacking  (Philmont Prep)
DESCRIPTION:We got the permit to camp at Black Mountain Friday\, June 21 with a max of 24 people (adults and scouts T37 and T201 combined). \nThe campsite has a restroom. \nThis is an opportunity for the younger scouts to do meal planning.\nWe will hike 2 miles into the campsite.\nNext morning we will have breakfast and hike down 8 miles.\nAll scouts please bring at least one liter of drinking water for the hike down to Rancho San Antonio the next morning.\nThe parents will drop off the participants on June 21 in the dark\, and the scouts hike about 2 miles to the campsite location overlooking Silicon Valley. \nIn the morning the scouts cook breakfast using the troop’s gas stoves and then they hike about 8 miles downhill to Rancho San Antonio where the parents pick them up. DESCRIPTION:Camp Royaneh is a Nationally Accredited Boy Scout camp located in the beautiful coastal Redwoods area near Cazadero\, in Sonoma County. The weather at Royaneh is moderately warm in the afternoons and cool in the evenings. Royaneh has a quality dining hall\, campsites that offer cabin and tent camping\, shooting ranges\, and more. During Summer Camp program\, activities include a COPE course (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) set high amongst the Redwoods\, swimming in our Olympic size swimming pool\, Shooting Sports\, including archery\, rifle\, shotgun and black powder in the Mountain Man area.
